What your dancer learns

More than steps.

Ballet trains the body and the ear at the same time. Over a season, dancers build:

  • Posture and placement

Standing tall, engaging the core and aligning hips, knees and feet. Habits that carry into every other style.

  • Barre fundamentals

Pliés, tendus, relevés and port de bras, taught in the classical order so each step prepares the next.

  • Center and traveling steps

Balances, turns, jumps and leaps across the floor, added as strength and control grow.

  • Musicality

Counting music, moving on the beat and changing quality with the music, from soft to sharp.

By age

Ballet that grows with them.

Classes are grouped by age and level, so every dancer learns with peers at a similar stage. Here is how class changes as dancers grow.

Ages 2–4

Creative movement meets real ballet. Imagery, songs and games teach pointed feet, balance and following directions in a group.

Ages 5–7

Structured class with barre and center work. Dancers learn ballet vocabulary and start linking steps into short combinations.

Ages 8 and up

Technique-focused training. Stronger barre, turns, jumps and longer combinations, with individual corrections every class.

Questions parents ask

Ballet FAQ.

What age can my child start ballet?

Children can start ballet at Danzone from age 2. Our youngest classes use music, imagery and games to teach real ballet basics like pointed feet, balance and moving together as a group.

Does my child need experience to start ballet?

No. Beginner ballet classes assume zero background, and instructors teach technique from the very first class.

What should my dancer wear to ballet?

A leotard, tights and ballet shoes, with hair pulled back in a bun. For a first trial class, comfortable clothes they can move in are fine.

Can parents watch ballet class?

Parents are welcome in our waiting area during class. Ask the front desk how and when families can watch class in the studio.

Is ballet good for kids who want to do other styles?

Yes. Ballet builds the posture, balance and control that make every other style cleaner, which is why many of our dancers take ballet alongside hip hop, jazz or contemporary.

Six styles, one studio

Mix and match.

Most of our dancers train across two or three styles, which is how technique compounds.
