Tap dance classes for kids in Los Angeles.
Rhythm you can hear. In tap, dancers become musicians. They learn timing, sound quality and musicality through their feet, and it's fun from the very first shuffle.

More than steps.
Tap builds rhythm, coordination and focus. Over a season, dancers build:
Clean sounds
Shuffles, flaps, ball changes and cramp rolls with clear, even sounds.
Timing and counting
Staying on the beat, playing with tempo and dancing in unison with the group.
Rhythm patterns
Combining steps into rhythms, then into full routines.
Coordination
Quick, light feet with a relaxed upper body. Great cross-training for every other style.
Tap that grows with them.
Classes are grouped by age and level, so every dancer learns with peers at a similar stage. Here is how class changes as dancers grow.
Basic steps, simple rhythms and games that teach kids to listen to their own feet.
Faster steps, syncopation and longer combinations, with more focus on clarity of sound.
Complex rhythms, improvisation and performance pieces that challenge speed and musicality.
A class, start to finish.

Music at the center
Tap teaches kids to hear music in detail, a skill that helps in every style and in music class too.
Progress you can hear
Parents and dancers can literally hear the improvement from month to month.
A great second style
Tap sharpens timing and musicality, so it pairs well with ballet, jazz or hip hop.

Tap FAQ.
What age can my child start tap?
Tap classes at Danzone start at age 5, when most kids have the coordination to control the sounds their feet make.
Does my child need tap shoes for the first class?
No. For a first trial class, anything comfortable is fine. Tap shoes are needed once your dancer enrolls.
Does my child need experience to start tap?
No. Beginner classes assume zero background, and instructors build technique from the very first class.
Is tap good for kids who love music?
Yes. Tap dancers make the music with their feet, so it's a natural fit for kids who love rhythm, drumming or counting beats.
Mix and match.
Most of our dancers train across two or three styles, which is how technique compounds.
